Wire Works Double Oak Port
The first Wire Works Whisky release of 2023 is ‘Double Oak Port’; just 1,321 individually numbered bottles at 52.2% ABV.
Lightly-peated single malt English whisky, with equal oak maturation in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and then Port barriques.
100% natural colour. Non-chill filtered.
Maturation
This release marries the fruit-forward flavours of our spirit with two different cask types over equal maturation periods. First fill ex-bourbon barrels from Heaven Hills (Kentucky), then re-casked in Port barriques from J Dias (Porto).
Tasting notes
Fruit cake, cherry lozenges, and toffee apples on the nose, with flavours of Sichuan pepper, hot cross buns, and marzipan on the palate with a leathery bonfire toffee finish with hints of eucalyptus.
