Horse With No Name Bourbon
A bourbon from Texas is the basis for this new project "A Horse with No Name" by Alexander Stein. After it has been matured, the whiskey is flavoured with a distillate from Black Forest Habaneros - a marriage that has it all.
The active entrepreneur Stein stands for innovation and is known in the spirits scene not least for his Monkey 47 Gin. He has sold all of his shares of the famous gin to Pernod Ricard meanwhile, but continues to join them as an adviser. With the founding of The Horses Spirit Company he turned to another spirit and entered into a partnership with the Fireston & Robertson Distillery in Texas. The result is now available in several countries, the "Habanero Infused Bourbon" called A Horse with No Name.
Partnership with the Fireston & Robertson Distillery in Texas
The Fireston & Robertson Distillery has been active in the craft whiskey sector since 2012 and has already received several prestigious awards. When Alexander Stein started looking for a suitable whiskey for his idea Bourbon meets Habaneros, he had a product with a pronounced vanilla and caramel note in mind. He found a partner in the Fireston & Robertson Distillery in Texas who worked with him to develop a bourbon made from corn, winter wheat and barley. An individual yeast strang, extracted from the pecan nut, is used for the fermentation.
A three-year maturation in charred white oak barrels turns the distillate into bourbon whiskey. Then the habaneros enter the scene: Grown for this purpose in the Black Forest, these chillies are turned into a distillate with a fruity-spicy pep. The extreme heat of the Habaneros is lost during the distillation, even if a piquant aroma is retained. But it is above all the fruity and floral notes that fascinate Stein in combination with the bourbon aromas, when the two spirit are married to A Horse with No Name.
